Design Your Own Wedding Hairstyle

Your wedding is one of the most important days in your life. There will a lot of people wanting to talk, dance and take pictures of you. Because it's your wedding (and everyone will be begging for pictures), you will want to look your best. Part of looking amazing is making sure that your hair looks perfect. Instead of allowing your stylist to do whatever he wants, you can design the hairstyle that you love most. Take some time to design and play around with your hairstyle so that it looks flawless on the big day

Determine what kind of, if any, hair pieces you'll be wearing. If you are going to wear a veil, you will need something for the veil to "catch" onto. In which case your hair will have to be up or at least pulled up on the sides. If you're choosing to wear a flower crown, you hair will look best down. If you're going to wear a beautiful hair clip instead, your hair can be arranged in any fashion just determine where you want the clip to be placed.

Stick with your own style. Wear your hair in a way that you know you love and you're comfortable with. If you love to wear your hair down in loose curls or poker straight, then don't get an updo. Keep with your own sense of style.

Practice different hairstyles. Sit in front of your mirror and play around with different styles. Grab a few different magazines and try to re-create the looks. Also, channel in your favorite movies--if you loved Audrey Hepburn's hair in "Breakfast at Tiffany's," try a chic, retro updo.

Go to different wedding websites for inspiration. TheKnot.com, ModelBride.com and Brides.com all have great ideas for the perfect 'do. Look through the hundreds of different styles (all categorized for easy sifting) and choose the ones you love best.

Make at least one pre-wedding hair appointment with your stylist. Better yet, make two. Come equipped with drawings, pictures, magazines and ideas. Tell your stylist exactly what you want. He should be able to recreate almost anything that you dream up. This way, you'll know weeks before your wedding how great your hair will look. And what's even better--if you absolutely hate the style, you have plenty of time to find something else you like.
